Excessive Sweating

Excessive sweating - Hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating is a very common concern and one which can be very easily and successfully addressed. The medical name for it is hyperhidrosis. It is caused when sweat glands work in over drive. This may be caused by a trigger such as stress, heat, exercise, or even just thinking about it can bring it on!

It can be very unpleasant and cause both social and professional discomfort due to unwanted sweat patches, the feeling of seeming nervous when you may not be! So as well as the physical aspects it can also have a significant psychological impact on your life.

Luckily there is a safe and effective treatment to help reduce sweating in common areas such as the armpits, hands, face and feet. We use a purified protein called Botulinum Toxin (exactly the same as we use to relax lines and wrinkles on the face). In this instance it is injected in tiny areas of active sweat glands and it will simply switch off the sweat production from the glands in that area.

It provides rapid relief within 4-7 days and the effects can be seen for up to 12 months. At which point you can re treat to maintain the effects, or once it wears off the sweat glands will simply return to their pre treated state. So it can be used long term or some clients will do a one off treatment for a big event, such as their wedding day! It helps to give the reassurance that sweating is not something you will need to worry about when focusing on your big day/event.

It also has practical benefits in keeping shirts and clothing feeling much fresher, reducing unwanted staining on the armpits of light clothing as well as allowing far more freedom to choose any coloured clothes you want without worrying about visible sweat patches.

Please book for a free consultation where we can asses your suitability for this treatment and discuss in more detail.
